A road trip through the high Atlas mountains, over the Tizi n’Tichka pass (the highest in North Africa at 2,207m), with a night in a gîte in the remote village of Tijhza.

I spent the half the night feeling rather ill but at least the night sky made up for it. In the early morning I just about managed to drag myself up a nearby sand dune to watch the sunrise as our Berber guides began their morning prayers. It was worth the effort.
